Dot and Microsoft 365 Copilot: what each one remembers
Most of the teams who talk to us already have Copilot, and this is not an argument that it takes bad notes, it does not. It is an argument about one thing it does not do, which is carry a decision forward and tell you when a later one replaced it.
Every row below was checked against Microsoft’s own documentation, and links go to Microsoft Learn rather than to us. Where a claim we wanted to make turned out to be wrong, we cut it: Copilot reaches Zoom meetings through a Zoom connector, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

The thing a feature table cannot carry
In June a team agrees a price. In July, in a different meeting with different people, that price quietly changes. Nobody goes back to correct the June notes, because nobody is thinking about the June notes.
Six weeks later somebody asks what the price is. Copilot will find the June meeting and answer accurately about it, the recap is good and the transcript is right there. What it will not do is tell you that the answer stopped being true in July, because it keeps no record that carries a decision forward.
That is the whole of our argument, and it is a narrow one. It matters if your company has ever built a plan on a number that had quietly changed. If it has not, this page is not for you.
Where Microsoft 365 Copilot is the better choice
Be honest with yourself about this, because it is often the right answer.
Dot is a third-party processor. We publish our sub-processor list and offer a data processing agreement, but we are still one more name on your register. If your legal position is that no new processor may be added, Copilot wins and we cannot fix that.
We give you retention controls. We do not give you Purview.
Copilot recaps a meeting well and it is already on the bill. If nobody in your company has been caught out by a decision that had changed, our differentiator is not one for you.
That is a real preference and a defensible one, and we are a second vendor.
Questions
Can Copilot see our Zoom meetings?
Yes, through Microsoft’s Zoom Meetings connector, which indexes Zoom transcripts and summaries into Copilot. We checked, and an earlier version of this page said otherwise. The difference between us is not which platforms are reachable, it is whether a decision is carried forward when a later meeting overturns it.
Can we run both Copilot and Dot?
Yes, and it is a sensible combination: Copilot for the Teams-native workflow, Dot for the decision record. A bot in the meeting does not interfere with Copilot recapping it.
Does everyone in the meeting need a Dot seat?
No. Attendees need no seat and no account. Seats are for people who ask questions and read the minutes.
